ukip.org UKIP calls on Energy Secretary to drop the playground technologies and get back to reality http://ift.tt/1mNiMu0

Roger_Helmer_portrait.jpgEnergy Secretary Amber Rudd has reportedly said that leaving the EU would have “unknown consequences”, for Britain’s energy security and energy pricing, and that “Britain would lose its influence on European energy markets”. She advances this as a reason to stay in the EU.

UKIP Energy spokesman Roger Helmer MEP responded saying, "Energy Secretary Amber Rudd is hopelessly out-of-touch with the basics of energy pricing.

"Is it possible that she can be unaware of the vast damage being done by EU energy policy, as the EU seeks to “lead on the fight against climate change”, oblivious to the fact that no one else is following? Has she not read of the “industrial massacre” which former EU Industry Commissioner Antonio Tajani has so graphically described? Has she not noticed the steel plants closing across Britain, and across Europe -- caused in large part by high energy costs? And not just steel plants, but aluminium smelters, oil refiners, chemical and fertiliser plants, glass and ceramic and cement factories?

ukip.org Jonathan Arnott calls on Corbyn to apologise for insults to teachers http://ift.tt/1OfvPeR

Jonathan_Arnott_2.jpgA former Mathematics teacher and UKIP member of the European Parliament has called for Jeremy Corbyn to apologise after making comments which appeared to denigrate the work of all teachers in the UK.

Yesterday, Jeremy Corbyn – who as a teenager taught a little Geography in Jamaica - slapped down hard-working teachers up and down the country in the most appalling way: "I worked out what all teachers do. If you are a chapter ahead of the class you are okay - until you have a really bright kid, and then you have got a problem."

ukip.org Fury at disclosure that University students are being targeted by Islamic zealots http://ift.tt/1JyznvZ

PaulNuttall1.jpgA Daily Mail investigation has revealed that CAGE, the organisation that backed Jihadi John, was involved in at least 13 events last term at campuses across the country and is being given unchallenged platforms.

“It is outrageous that these events at our universities are being used to encourage young Muslim students to sabotage the government’s anti-extremism policy,” said Mr Nuttall, MEP, who is also Deputy UKIP Leader.

ukip.org UKIP clarification on Robin Hunter-Clarke's Vote Leave appointment http://ift.tt/1OMRfWb

UKIP continues to remain neutral with regard to the two Leave groups in contention for the official Electoral Commission designation until a decision is made by the UKIP National Executive Committee.

As such Cllr Robin Hunter-Clarke's recently announced role with Vote Leave as their National UKIP coordinator is in a private capacity as he is not an authorised delegate of UKIP.

ukip.org Stop turning our country into a concrete jungle http://ift.tt/1OaRjcT

Andrew-Charalambous-1.jpgUKIP Housing Spokesman, Andrew Charalambous has escribed plans to wipe out a thousand acres of green belt in Basildon to make way for development as "appalling".

"We do not have the right to deprive future generations of the marvels of the great British countryside for which so many brave British soldiers have sacrificed their lives to protect".

UKIP are the only British political party committed to protecting a hundred per cent of the British countryside and green belt from residential development.

Charalambous went on to add that "Unless we develop a sensible immigration policy the pressure for relentless house building will continue to be compounded."

ukip.org Prosecuting British Soldiers for doing their job is an outrage. http://ift.tt/1SzMgrI

Paul_Nuttall.jpegUK soldiers who fought in the Iraq War may face prosecution for war crimes, according to a BBC report this week.

Here, in his own words, Ukip Deputy Leader PAUL NUTTALL MEP explains why this is a travesty of “justice” and a complete betrayal of our armed forces.

MOST of us can only imagine the horrors of war.

Sure, we see the clips of fire and terror on television. We hear the bombs on the radio. We read about the aftermath and the destruction.

But we don’t actually live it, thankfully. Because we have an enormously brave set of men and women who do that for us in our armed forces.

They don’t get paid a lot for it. And while those who survive and receive medals may be thankful, the memories of how they got them will forever be seared into their minds.

It’s one – important – thing to buy a poppy every November. But it’s even more important to realise why you do it.

It’s because you’re recognising and appreciating the commitment and bravery of the very people who help to sustain our way of life.

ukip.org Labour defence team chaos means UKIP is the only realistic opposition say Mike Hookem http://ift.tt/1OaCMxK

Mike_Hookem.jpgUKIP defence spokesman slams Jeremy Corbyn for making shadow defence team a laughing stock

UKIP defence spokesman, Mike Hookem MEP has slammed Jeremy Corbyn for his “weak” leadership on UK defence, saying, “rather than re-asserting his authority over his shadow cabinet, he has made it a laughing stock.”

Former soldier, Mr Hookem, who has been UKIP’s defence spokesman since he became an MEP in 2014 said; “The UK faces a diverse range of threats at the moment, and with a party in power who pay mere lip service to our armed forces and national defence, now more than ever we need a strong opposition to challenge the government and force them to secure this country.”

ukip.org Tunnel walker asylum win is a threat to national security http://ift.tt/1Z4MDzH

Mike_Hookem.jpegUKIP MEP, Mike Hookem has slammed British immigration authorities that granted asylum to a migrant who walked through the Channel Tunnel from Calais, calling the decision a “nonsensical threat to national security” and “a come on” to others migrants who would risk their lives walking through the tunnel to reach England.

Mr Hookem, who spent the summer examining the migrant crisis in Northern France said, “This man broke numerous laws in both France and the UK to access and then walk through the Channel Tunnel; as well as risking both his own and the lives of others.”

“Now, instead of prosecuting him and holding his case up as an example of what will happen to those who break the law, UK immigration authorities have seen fit to reward him with the ultimate prize of granting asylum.”

ukip.org UKIP on the up http://ift.tt/1mvHNdv

Nigel_Twitter.jpegRecent YouGov polling shows UKIP on 17%, up on the party's performance in the General Election as 2016 begins and ahead of elections this coming May.

UKIP Leader Nigel Farage said: "This poll shows us up from the General Election, despite what some commentators would have you believe."

UKIP Deputy Leader Paul Nuttall added: "It is clear that UKIP is not going away any time soon. On the 5th May voters in all four corners of the United Kingdom will have the opportunity to vote for UKIP and I have every confidence we can make a strong showing in London, Wales, Northern Ireland, Scotland and in the English local elections as well as the elections for Police and Crime Commissioners."

ukip.org Direct commissioning of a few building sites by government will do little to end our country's mammoth housing crisis http://ift.tt/1PaMKPv

Andrew_Charalambous.jpgUKIP's Housing Spokesman Andrew Charalambous described the announcement of the direct commissioning of a few building sites by the government as, "No more than gesture politics from a government without any kind of coherent or coordinated housing policy. This government is doing nothing to tackle the underlying causes of the housing shortage. The truth is less and less families can now afford to buy their own home, whilst statistics show that levels of people homeless or sleeping rough are soaring towards record heights".

"If the government really wanted to do something radical in housing it should follow UKIP's proposals for a brownfield revolution. Bring back to use the seven hundred thousand plus empty properties in our country, and do more to release inert public land for residential development".

ukip.org New French ‘Super’ Refugee camp poses a threat to UK security http://ift.tt/1mv8KO0

Mike_Hookem.jpgUKIP's Defence Spokesman Mike Hookem MEP has slammed French government plans to build a “massive” refugee camp near an existing shanty town in Grande-Synthe, Dunkirk, saying, the French were “kidding themselves” if they thought the new £1.1 million centre would “defeat people traffickers and protect truck drivers in the port region”.

Mr Hookem, who was threatened with a gun in the nearby Teteghem refugee camp in August last year said; “Congregating migrants in one massive camp is exactly the wrong thing to do and will put extra pressure on police, port security, Immigration officials and truckers in the region.”

“In fact these plans will essentially make the entire Dunkirk-Calais region an absolute no go area for British hauliers.”

ukip.org Christmas floods prove government needs to spend billions on flood defences rather than HS2 vanity project http://ift.tt/1mIqe9U

Mike_Hookem.jpgYorkshire & North Lincolnshire MEP, Mike Hookem has sympathised with people hit by the unprecedented Christmas flooding saying, “My heart goes out to those all those affected”; while slamming the government for “ignoring the abject misery, disruption and damage caused by flooding” in favour of “pouring billions into vanity projects such as HS2”.

Speaking after many areas of Northern England, including his Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire constituency fell victim to massive flooding on Christmas and Boxing Day; Mr Hookem said, “Flooding is terrible at any time of year, but it must be particularly hard during the festive period.”

“While flooding has brought a premature end to Christmas for many across the North of England, the government is still wheeling out the same tied excuses for its repeated failures to invest in and properly manage flood defences across the country.”

ukip.org UKIP release the EU rich list 2015/16 http://ift.tt/1OeotM6

The_EU_Rich_List-page-001.jpgAhead of the forthcoming EU Referendum the UKIP Parliamentary Resource Unit has released ground-breaking research that shows just how high on the hog the invisible bureaucracy of Brussels is living, click the picture or here to download it.

Put together the 100 top paying jobs cost the taxpayer £40 million of hard earned taxpayers money. This is made up of basic salary, generous EU taxation, side benefits and pensions. The lists of the Top Ten highest paid EU Commissioners, EU Judges, EU Bankers and EU Quangocrats can be downloaded here.

Douglas Carswell MP said, "the Eurocracy are like the Ancien Régime, they have forgotten nothing when it comes to their own personal advantages, yet have learned nothing from the years of economic chaos that they have presided over. It is time that the UK pulled out of this get rich scheme for the European Establishment".

The study breaks down the payments in a clear and unambiguous way showing that the fastest of the European fat cats are the Judges on the Various European Courts like the Irishman Kieran Bradley, who has risen via the European system, as a political researcher, through the College of Europe, via the European Parliament to his current position now. He has never worked in a normal legal practice either in Ireland or elsewhere before he was selected for this enormously powerful and well paid position.

The top Brit comes in at number 36, Nicholas Forwood, also a European judge.

ukip.org Christmas message from Nigel Farage http://ift.tt/1YxDMpS

1017739_753280291386243_8538108291027881607_n.jpgWriting for the Mirror, UKIP Leader Nigel Farage says we must have respect for all faiths but uphold the UK's Christian values:

The reason we’re having this holiday and the reason it’s called Christmas is that it’s Christian festival.

That means that whilst we have absolute respect for people of all religions from all over the world, regardless of whether they agree or support our faith, we as a country must be up standing and defend who we are.

We are a Christian country with a Christian constitution and a Christian monarch .

Whilst I would not ever present myself as being a person of deep religious conviction I absolutely believe in Christian values that have made this country great.

I want everybody, all 65 million of us, to have a happy Christmas if you are Christian and holiday if you’re not.

We can all look forward to 2016 where hopefully none of us attempt to impose our ideologies on anybody else.

ukip.org Government failings on the Homeless should shame us at Christmas http://ift.tt/22mYckR

Andrew-Charalambous-1.jpgAccording to the housing charity Shelter 103,000 children will be homeless during this Christmas. A seven year high. Homelessness has increased in our country for the fifth consecutive year. In London alone the number of renters becoming homeless has increased by a staggering 700 per cent in the last five years.

UKIP Housing Spokesman Andrew Charalambous said, "It's time the Government showed some compassion to our ever increasing homeless population. We at UKIP are demanding that government should start by ensuring homeless persons have full access to a GP, mental health professionals, optical and dental care".

"Too often our homeless fellow citizens are living on the periphery of society. Consequently, they are becoming the silent victims of violence, sexual exploitation and abuse. Government rather than cutting the Police budget should direct more Police resources into protecting the homeless."

ukip.org Bank of England research finally accepts immigration causes lower wages http://ift.tt/1S5mlbb

Steven-Woolfe-800x500.jpgUKIP Migration Spokesman Steven Woolfe MEP: Since I have been the UKIP spokesman on Migration, along with UKIP leader Nigel Farage, I have been arguing that mass uncontrolled migration pushes down the wages of the low paid in Britain. This is not the first report which came to the same conclusion. In fact, Bank of England Governor, Mark Carney also recently accepted that unsustainable levels of migration causes wage compression some time ago.

ukip.org Climate change industry has become a powerful vested interest http://ift.tt/1T3R4DR

Julia_Reid.jpgCommenting in the European Parliament in Strasbourg this week on the Paris talks on climate change, UKIP MEP Dr Julia Reid, said coal, which had been the provider of cheap and affordable electricity for many years, had been demonised.

Speaking in the Parliament earlier this week, Dr Reid, who is UKIP's national Science spokesman, said: “Whenever I hear the words 'historic agreement' my sceptical streak kicks in.

“The aim is to keep warming below two degrees at a time when there has been no warming since 1997 when we know that a thousand years ago the Earth was warmer than it is today.

“Current records are all too brief even 250 years is insufficient time for a meaningful assessment of long-term climate patterns and so-called models are only as good as the data in the programming.

“The climate change industry has become a powerful vested interest. So what will this really mean in Swindon, Exeter and Penzance?
